Electric Outdoors Year in Review: 5 Major Accomplishments in 2024

Happy New Year! As we return to business as usual after the holidays and get serious about our goals for 2025, we wanted to take a quick moment to look back at how far we’ve come. Electric Outdoors entered into 2024 as a fresh, little-known startup (in fact, we celebrated our first year in business in April) and ended it with several great accomplishments in the bag. Here are a few of them:
1. Launching Pilot Program
We launched our first pilot program in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which enabled us to test our EO Canopy in a real-life setting. Through the pilot, which was designed in partnership with Innovate Marquette SmartZone, we were able to build a completely new off-grid glamping experience—and we learned a lot along the way. We hosted campers, investors, and our own team members in the unit over the course of the summer and fall, and we hired local talent to work on the project, creating economic opportunities for the community. The pilot also allowed us to build several exciting partnerships and create some media buzz.
2. Closing Funding Round
In late summer, we closed an initial $1.3 million seed round that not only gave us the resources needed to expand our team and ramp up production, but also offered a definitive vote of confidence for our product and vision. The funding round was led by Veolectra, which was joined by Michigan Rise and the Michigan Outdoor Innovation Fund, among other notable investors, and we are so grateful for their support.
3. Growing the Team
One of our favorite developments of the year has been growing the Electric Outdoors team, which is now seven people strong. This talented group of individuals comes from a diverse range of backgrounds and geographic locations, but what brings us together is a shared passion for building the next generation of off-grid camping and charging solutions.
4. Building Partnerships
We announced partnerships with several exciting companies whose offerings and missions complement ours. This includes collaborations with Nxu, which builds EV charging and energy storage solutions, and Voltaic Marine, an electric boat startup.
Both of these partnerships entail redefining how people enjoy the outdoors sustainably; with Nxu, we are excited to see our assets launched in new regions in order to create an upgraded EV road trip experience for travelers. Our partnership with Voltaic Marine focuses on bringing new kinds of electric experiences to the great outdoors by scaling Electric Outdoors’ off-grid charging infrastructure to the marine industry. This will allow us to offer electric charging capabilities at docks, boathouses, and remote waterfront sites.
These are only a few of the conversations we’ve been having in the past year, and we’re excited to announce even more strategic partnerships in 2025.
5. Attending Events
We attended more events than we can count in 2024—from regional pitch competitions to e-mobility and cleantech forums to national consumer events. Showcasing our vision and product at these events has been a real highlight of the year, especially since it’s allowed us to meet and chat with so many of you. We’re looking forward to more in-person conversations in 2025, starting with CES in Las Vegas in early January. Come say hi if you’re around!

Heading into 2025, we have a lot of very exciting things planned for the year, and we look forward to sharing more details with all of you soon. As always, we wouldn’t be where we are today without your support.
If you’re interested in investing, partnering, working, or doing business with Electric Outdoors in 2025, please reach out at any time. We’d love to chat.
Here’s to a happy and healthy new year!
